Which Volvo models have AdBlue?

Volvo fitted AdBlue (SCR) systems to most diesel models from around 2016 onwards. Affected models include the XC90 (second generation, 2015 onwards with the D5 engine), XC60 (second generation, 2017 onwards), V90 and V90 Cross Country (2016 onwards), S90, and XC40 D4. Most use Volvo's D4 or D5 engines paired with an SCR system that injects AdBlue into the exhaust to reduce NOx emissions. The AdBlue filler is usually found in the engine bay on the passenger side. If you are unsure whether your model is affected, call us to confirm your year and engine variant before booking.

What the delete involves

The delete is done through the OBD port. No parts are removed from the vehicle. We connect to the ECU and update the software to disable the AdBlue injection and monitoring systems entirely. Warning lights clear immediately. The countdown timer disappears. The car can no longer go into lockout mode because of low AdBlue fluid. Most Volvo deletes take between 60 and 90 minutes at your chosen location. We run a free diagnostic scan before starting any work so you know exactly what we are dealing with. Once done, you will never need to add AdBlue again.

FAQs

Which Volvo models need AdBlue?
Most Volvo diesel models sold from around 2016 use AdBlue, including the XC90 D5, XC60, V90 Cross Country, S90 and XC40 D4. If your Volvo displays an SCR warning or a countdown in miles on the dashboard, it has an AdBlue system. Call us to confirm your model year and engine variant before booking.
Is Volvo AdBlue delete permanent?
Yes. The delete is a permanent software change to the ECU. Once done, the AdBlue system is fully disabled. There is no fluid to refill, no warning lights and no countdown timer. The change does not revert after a dealer service or software update, and it does not need repeating.
Does AdBlue delete affect Volvo performance?
No. The AdBlue system handles exhaust aftertreatment only and has no effect on engine output. Removing it will not change how the Volvo drives, how it accelerates, or how much fuel it uses. Most customers notice no difference in everyday driving.
How much does Volvo AdBlue delete cost?
Volvo AdBlue delete costs £330. That covers the free diagnostic scan, the ECU software work and the mobile callout to your location. There are no additional charges. The price does not change depending on where we come to you. For off-road and export use only.
